💡 Local Tips

◆ Book Acropolis and Acropolis Museum tickets online well in advance — they sell out completely in peak season.

◆ Visit the Acropolis at 8am when it opens — heat and crowds both increase dramatically after 10am.

◆ The Athens transport day pass covers metro, bus, and tram. Buy at the airport machine on arrival.

◆ Tipping 5–10% in restaurants is appreciated but not mandatory. Round up for good service.

◆ Diporto is cash only and has no sign — look for a basement entrance near Sofokleous Street market.

◆ Psiri and Monastiraki are the best neighborhoods for nightlife and late-night eating.

◆ Avoid July–August if heat is a concern. September–October is the sweet spot: warm, less crowded.

◆ Athens runs on late schedules — dinner starts at 9pm. Don't show up at a restaurant at 7pm and wonder why it's empty.

Metro Line 3 direct to Syntagma (40 min, €9). Taxi ~€40, 30–60 min.

3 lines cover key sights. Day pass €4.50. Validate before boarding.

Walking

Central Athens is very walkable. Plaka → Monastiraki → Psiri all on foot.

Taxis / Rideshare

Bolt and Free Now apps work well. Cheaper than metered taxis.

Day Trips

Aegina: Piraeus ferry. Cape Sounion: KTEL bus from Areos Park (€6.50).
